Frequently Asked Questions:

Can a COVID-19 vaccine make me sick with COVID-19?

No. The COVID vaccine does not contain a live virus so therefor you cannot get COVID-19 from the vaccine.

After getting a COVID-19 vaccine, will I test positive for COVID-19 on a viral test?

No. Viral tests determine if you have active infection. Testing positive after getting vaccinated would indicate that your body was not able to produce an immune response in time to prevent you from getting sick.

If I have already had COVID-19 and recovered, do I still need to get vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine?

Yes. Re-infection with COVID-19 is possible so it is important to receive the vaccine even after a positive COVID-19 infection.

Will a COVID-19 vaccination protect me from getting sick with COVID-19?

Yes. The COVID vaccine helps to teach your body to produce an immune response to the virus. This helps your body be able to recognize the virus for future exposures and prevent you from contracting COVID-19.

Will a COVID-19 vaccine alter my DNA?

No. The COVID vaccine uses mRNA technology to help teach your body to produce an immune response. DNA is housed in the nucleus of our human cells. RNA does not enter the nucleus and therefor cannot alter your DNA. Click here for more information on mRNA vaccines.

How many shots will be needed?

Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require TWO doses. It is very important to receive both doses. This will help to ensure maximum protection. The Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine is a one dose vaccination.

What side effects might I experience from the vaccine?
